Our International Business Partnering & Representation
Practice acts as local or regional partner in SE
Asia and India for overseas businesses and financial investors
seeking to invest in, or otherwise establish a foothold
or expand business ties in the Asia region.
The cost effective nature of our work reduces the barrier
to international expansion and cross-border investment.
We act for two client groups:-
For technology companies we provide comprehensive on-the-ground
support, in effect a valuable one-stop-shop function to
help them to execute a regional roll-out, including establishing
sales, distribution or manufacturing operations, licensing
technology or marketing rights, and raising local financing.
We:-
- Assist in evaluating the local market and in determining
an appropriate entry strategy
- Identify and build relationships with potential
acquisition targets, local joint venture partners, strategic
and technology partners and collaborators, clients, distributors
and re-sellers
- Identify, evaluate, appraise and negotiate new
investment opportunities and acquisition propositions
- Introduce, interact and transact with the local
financial and investment communities
- Co-ordinate press, PR and government relations
- Participate in trade fairs, conferences and other
promotional events
- Determine availability of grants, tax incentives
and other inducements for direct investment, plant relocation
and technology transfer
- Arrange meetings between key local contacts and
visiting senior management
- Private representative office functions on an interim basis
and assistance in establishing permanent regional office
- Assist with recruitment and carrying out business
development
For financial investors and investment funds, typically overseas
private equity and venture capital funds, making investments
in SE Asia or India, we offer:-
- Source, evaluate and execute new investments
- Monitor performance of existing investments
- Provide board level representation at portfolio companies
- Carry out value enhancement or risk mitigation exercises
for portfolio companies
- Assist in orchestrating an exit through IPO
or trade sale or in sourcing subsequent-round investment
funding from other funds or a strategic partner
- Introduce local investment funds and other
co-investors and help build and develop a lasting working
relationship
For their portfolio companies, we also offer our international
partnering and representation services, for example to help them identify strategic
partners / investors and licensing opportunities or otherwise
help accelerate their regional expansion.
